Regenerative aesthetics

Exosomes in Sacramento, CA

Exosomes are the newest step in regenerative aesthetics. At Lotus MD in Sacramento, an exosome serum is added to SkinPen microneedling, on its own or with PRP, to support your skin’s natural repair for smoother, firmer, more radiant skin.

Cell signaling

What are exosomes?

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that cells use to communicate. Think of them as messengers: they carry signals that help guide how surrounding cells repair and renew.

Unlike PRP, exosomes are not made from your own blood. They are derived from cells in a laboratory and prepared as a serum. Added to microneedling, that serum reaches the skin through the micro-channels the treatment creates.

Exosomes are a newer category in regenerative aesthetics, and the research is still growing compared with PRP’s long record of clinical use. That is why whether they suit your skin is always decided at a consultation.

Benefits

What exosomes are designed to do

Paired with microneedling, an exosome serum is designed to build on your skin’s own healing response.

  • Calmer recovery

Designed to reduce redness, irritation and downtime after microneedling.

  • Collagen support

Supports stronger collagen and elastin for firmer, smoother skin.

  • Texture and tone

Helps target fine lines, acne scars and uneven pigmentation more effectively.

  • Hydration and radiance

Promotes healthier, plumper-looking skin with a natural glow.

  • Works with PRP

PRP awakens your skin’s natural healing, and exosomes are designed to build on it in the same treatment.

  • Skin quality

Helps refine pores and even out texture as new collagen forms.

Two ways to add exosomes

How exosomes fit your treatment

  • Microneedling with exosomes. SkinPen microneedling stimulates collagen, and the exosome serum is added to support repair.
  • Microneedling with PRP and exosomes. Your own platelet-rich plasma and an exosome serum together, for the most comprehensive regenerative treatment.

Exosomes and PRP: the difference

Both support your skin’s repair after microneedling, and they can be used together. The main difference is where they come from.

The appointment

What to expect

  1. Consultation

A skin analysis and a talk about your goals. Together we decide whether exosomes, PRP or both suit your plan.

  2. Treatment day

Your skin is cleansed and numbed, then SkinPen microneedling is performed and the exosome serum is added.

  3. Recovery

Expect redness like a mild sunburn on day one, fading over the next few days, with written aftercare to follow.

  4. Results

Texture and radiance improve over the following weeks as new collagen forms, usually across a series of treatments.

Questions

Exosome questions, answered

Still unsure? Book a consultation and ask us in person.

What are exosomes used for at Lotus MD?

At Lotus MD, exosomes are added to SkinPen microneedling, on its own or together with PRP, to support the skin’s natural repair after treatment.

Are exosomes the same as PRP?

No. PRP is made from your own blood, while exosomes are cell-derived vesicles prepared as a serum. Both support repair, and they can be used in the same treatment.

Are exosomes safe?

Exosomes are a newer category in regenerative aesthetics, with a growing but still developing body of research compared with PRP. Candidacy and safety are discussed with you directly at your consultation.

Is there downtime?

Recovery follows your microneedling treatment: redness and mild swelling that usually fade within a few days. Exosomes are designed to help reduce redness and irritation during that time.

How many treatments will I need?

Microneedling usually works best as a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your plan, and whether exosomes are part of each session, is set at your consultation.

Can I get exosomes in Sacramento?

Yes. Lotus MD is based in Sacramento, with a second office in Granite Bay near Roseville. Book an appointment online or call (916) 249-7903.
